For Better Or For Wurst by Jon Goulding When football supporter Jon Goulding meets his wife to be, his future father-in-law regales him with tales of the once mighty, now enigmatic, 1.FC Nürnberg. After attending a couple of games, Jon introduces friends to the delights of German football, beer and Bratwurst. At first it offers the perfect antidote to domestication and the ubiquitous television coverage of English football but it rapidly turns into something much more. That something is the formation of a British-based 1.FC Nürnberg fan club. Somewhat oblivious to their carbon footprint they fly to various destinations to watch their adopted team win, lose and draw. Celebration, hospitalisation and despair all come with the patch for this devoted group as they grapple with the linguistics and their growing emotions towards a team they begin to follow For Better Or For Wurst.
